Responsibilities

The Property Unit is responsible for maintaining custody of all property obtained or seized by the Norwalk Police Department as evidence, lost and found, or as contraband.

Over 6,700 pieces of property are recorded and cataloged by Property Unit personnel each year. Each piece must be properly recorded to provide a chain of custody for court presentation and must be easily located when called for.
