Responsibilities
The Special Services Division is commanded by a lieutenant. The division is responsible for the investigation of narcotics violations, vice, gambling, and organized crime.
As in most large cities, narcotics enforcement is the priority for this unit. Long-term, as well as short-term investigations are conducted by this unit. Targets range from high-level narcotic traffickers to sellers and buyers engaged in street-level narcotics activities.
Program Success & Cooperation Efforts
Utilizing state and federal asset forfeiture laws, thousands in cash and property is seized each year and used to further combat the drug problem.
