Areas of Training


The deputy chief of training leads the Norwalk Fire Department's Training Division. This division establishes the goals and objectives needed to meet NFPA, OSHA and ISO training requirements. Provides the support for the company officers to deliver the training for the 141 members of the department in:
  • Emergency medical services
  • Fire suppression
  • Rescue
  • Other areas of training as needed by the department

Equipment

To support the necessary training required by the department, the Training Division utilizes:
  • A five-story training tower and burn building
  • EMS aids
  • Life-sized mannequins
  • Support vehicles
  • State of the art Training mezzanine
  • Classroom/ Emergency Operations Center

Additional Responsibilities

The Training Division also has the responsibilities of:
  • Administering the promotional exams for all ranks.
  • Recruitment of new applicants for firefighter positions
