Fire Operations

Responsibilities


The Operations Division is under the direction of the assistant fire chief. It is the largest division in the Norwalk Fire Department and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of most of the department, including emergency responses.

The Operations Division is also responsible for:
  • Evaluating and purchasing all firefighting equipment and fire apparatus
  • Issuing and revising Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Maintaining the department's seven buildings


Personnel

The 128 personnel assigned to the five fire stations are part of the Operations Division and include:
  • Captains
  • Deputy Chiefs
  • Firefighters
  • Lieutenants

The Training and Apparatus Maintenance divisions also report to the Operations Division.
