Responsibilities
The Operations Division is under the direction of the assistant fire chief. It is the largest division in the
Norwalk Fire Department and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of most of the department, including emergency responses.
The Operations Division is also responsible for:
- Evaluating and purchasing all firefighting equipment and fire apparatus
- Issuing and revising Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Maintaining the department's seven buildings
Personnel
The 128 personnel assigned to the five fire stations are part of the Operations Division and include:
- Captains
- Deputy Chiefs
- Firefighters
- Lieutenants
The
Training and
Apparatus Maintenance divisions also report to the Operations Division.
