Keeping Norwalk Clean
The Department of Public Works is responsible for street sweeping in the City of Norwalk, CT.
Responsibilities
The Public Works Operations Division staff members clean the streets daily from March through November (weather permitting). The program is designed to remove the heavy accumulation of salt, debris, and litter that has collected over the winter months and to help keep Norwalk’s 625 lane miles of streets clean. Street sweeping is performed by route, Street Sweeping Route Map, in the following order: Route Nos. 11, 10, 14, 12, 13, 1, 26, 15, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, and 25.

** Due to the warmer temperatures this winter the sweeping operations began in January, 2023 and routes 1-16 have been completed as of 3/1/23. Weather dependent we plan on sweeping each route twice this year.
