Overview
The Norwalk Department of Police Services oversees the city's Animal Control Program. The city employs a dog warden, assistance dog warden, and a kennel keeper, who handle the majority of calls for animal complaints throughout the city, as well as maintain the operation of the city's dog pound on Smith Street.
The Animal Control Division enforces local laws pertaining to the keeping of dogs, cats, and other animals.
Volunteer Program
Volunteers will be trained for the Disaster Animal Rescue Team (DART). Please call the Animal Control Division at (203) 854-3240 for more information.
Directions
The Animal Control facility is located at 13 South Smith Street, next to the city's Yard Waste Site.
- From the South: Take I-95 North to Exit 16. Turn right on East Avenue. Turn right onto Fort Point Street. Stay straight to go onto South Smith Street.
- From the North: Take I-95 South to Exit 16. Turn left on East Avenue. Turn right onto Fort Point Street. Stay straight to go onto South Smith Street.
- From Route 7 Connector: Take the Maritime Center / South Norwalk exit. Make a left at the light onto West Avenue. Follow the road straight to Washington Street and make left. Make a left onto Fort Point Street. Stay straight onto South Smith Street.
